My Story
My love of Holistic Health began in 2000 when my 2nd daughter, Chyanne was facing health challenges as a baby. At this time the internet was not like it is now, I had to research what was happening to her by buying health books at the bookstore. The doctors just dismissed her symptoms as a cold, so I bought more books! Chyanne was only 18months and looked like a cancer patient. She had dark circles under her eyes, her skin was covered in eczema, her breathing was labored, she was sick ALL the time with cold-like symptoms, runny nose, cough, chest pain for months. As a mother I was so distraught on how I could help her. The doctors just said “she has a cold, she’ll be fine”
It broke my heart to see her sick, and she looked SO sick. I went to other doctors, allergists, a lung specialist and Chyanne was FINALLY diagnosed with asthma, and was given a breathing machine but having the “diagnosis” didn’t make me feel better. There was no real solution, just a machine so she could breathe better.
I said to myself “My daughter is NOT going to be sick”, I did not want this for her so I started reading everything I could get my hands on and I decided to take her off dairy. My mother in law and basically my entire family, was mortified, saying she's a growing child and needs milk. If you can believe it, back in the 2000 in Alberta anyway, it was impossible to find milk alternatives so I made my own nut milk. I didn’t have a computer to YouTube this, the internet was a fairly new thing. I just had to figure it out but it worked!!
After 3 weeks of being dairy free Chyanne was off the asthma machine, she still had a puffer, but was SO much better! The bags under her eyes were better, she had more energy and was coughing less. These were times when the majority of the population did not connect food with health so I became OBSESSED with nutrition. Chyanne was better but there was still the eczema and she wasn’t 100% so after further research I changed her daughter's and my family’s diet to cut out sugar, gluten and meat. Over time Chyanne didn’t need the puffer anymore, my mother in law (yes, the one that was mortified about taking my kids off milk/dairy) even came around and started drinking tart cherry juice instead of wine to help her gout!
I was on a mission from then on to use food to heal my own gut issues, to feed my family foods to increase their brain health, I wanted smart children, and to find natural ways to help others in healing themselves through nutrition. For the next 10 years I helped my friends and family using food as medicine and in 2015, after going back to school I became a Registered Holistic Nutritionist and fulfilled a dream to open a healthcare clinic that brought many “alternative modalities” under one roof to help others the way I helped my daughter to get better through holistic ways. Chyanne is now 22 and does not have asthma and I feel eternally grateful for the books out there that pointed me in the right direction to healing Chyanne. Books are knowledge, and knowledge is powerful!
Thank you for following along in my journey to writing a book series!

Frequently Asked Questions
What made you sell everything to be a nomad?
My three girls are grown up now and I just wanted a change. I needed time to write as well.
Where do you actually live?
My address for all intensive purposes is Vancouver, BC. However, currently I have been travelling and writing the book series, Holistic Health Series
Are you Vegan or Vegetarian?
I don't care for labels but for years I was vegetarian, I just never told my family, they just ate what I prepared so they were plant based as well! I just cooked really amazing plant based dishes and became creative with my meals. My ex husband asked once if this was really meat (back then I used a soy based burger, I would never eat that now) and I just asked him if he really wanted to know and he said "No" and that was the end of that conversation! I took my children off dairy and gluten when they were babies and NEVER fed them sugar.
