March 20 - How to use collagen to age well -
Looking youthful takes consistency. It's not just about looking good from the outside but the inside as well! Collagen is the most abundant protein in the human body and is found in connective tissue, skin, tendons, bones, and cartilage. Collagen is important for healthy joints and skin elasticity. As you age, collagen breaks down, and it gets harder for your body to produce more plus toxins in water, air, and food deplete our collagen storehouse, making replenishment vital. Some studies show that taking collagen supplements for several months can improve skin elasticity, as well as reduce the signs of aging. Other studies have shown that consuming collagen can increase density in BONES weakened with age and can improve joint, back and knee pain. So of course we need to take this daily! As a Nutritionist I always look for food sources first and bone broth, eggs, fish and spirulina are good source but getting enough collagen from food will be much more difficult if you are vegetarian or vegan and you may not be able to eat enough food to replenish your collagen so supplementation on a daily basis will help. I found one that tastes like a chocolate milkshake @sunwarrior and is Vegan so no animal byproducts at all!! It’s available in so many stores and online. I prefer the shake every morning (I might even do another at night) just to get my chocolate fix as well! Staying hydrated, putting chemical free products on your skin and nourishing your body with collagen daily will be most effective! Taking care of your skin DAILY inside and out is the key to looking younger, feeling younger and aging well.
