This blog can apply to EVERYONE!

Even if you don’t think you are sociable you WILL see people, even if you are an introvert, you WILL find yourself in situations that may put your healthy train of life in jeopardy.

You will go for lunch with someone, or your family will take you out to dinner or it’s Thanksgiving or Christmas. Up until that day, the day you are SOCIAL you have been on such a good path, your healthy lifestyle is going strong until then you you SOCIALIZE and you get derailed.

Then you do something even worse, you say F*ck it, I already screwed up the day, might as well start again tomorrow”, this is a mindset we need to change but its in almost all of us!

Telling yourself “I’ll start tomorrow” or “ I’ll be better tomorrow” is the WORST thing you can say! That’s how I gained 40lbs and that fun story is in some of my books because it was that devastating to my health!  I go way more into detail about this topic in my book series but right now, today, HOW do you maintain some sort of balance between wanting to be healthy and wanting to have fun, drink beer and eat nachos? It's called BALANCE, and the reason why my clinical practice was called Balanced Whole Body Health.
It's all about balance!!!

So here are my #1 thing to do before you go out ANYWHERE…, seriously ANYWHERE! Ok not if you are going to the gym or yoga in the morning (you will feel so good after you won’t want to derail your train after exercising) but if you are going to the store, to the mall, to meet friends, to dinner, and especially when going to a party or event you need to EAT!!!!!

This was SHARED but had to be eaten!

After wine tasting we all needed some bread to soak it up!
EAT - What? I am serious, EAT before you go out! DO NOT STARVE YOURSELF BEFORE AN EVENT. You may think, “I am going to not eat all day to save ALL my calories for the party, or my birthday dinner, or Christmas dinner, whatever the case may be but you are only setting yourself up for failure especially if you drink alcohol.

Trust me, here’s how I see it play out with my clients and myself, you will get to your function, and that first DRINK of wine or a cocktail or beer will hit you (even if you are a guy) and your willpower will go straight out the window.

Just think back to the past events you have attended. You arrive, you have a drink, then you have another, then dinner or the food is set out and you are famished because you starved yourself all day for this moment! You INHALE the food, you don’t even chew because you have had a couple glasses of wine by now and so you eat way too much food and at this point you say to yourself “Well, it's bad luck not to eat birthday cake” so you have that too! You know the scene, you have been there, done that, and did it again but trust me when I say eating helps.

So what do you eat? You eat things that will FILL you up and last for a long time. Omelettes and eggs are very filling, steel cut oatmeal, a baked potato, protein such as a chicken breast, even a glass of fiber or a greek yogurt will fill you up. An apple is filling, just eat something filling and nutrient dense. Greek yogurt, avocados and oatmeal are some of the most filling foods to give it a try before you go out next time! You will be amazed at your new found willpower!
Thank you for following my journey to writing a book series!
Stay balanced,
LeeAnna
