Pictures taken from Google Images I will buy one once I actually stop travelling and settle somewhere! May 1 How to grow your own food…all year long! This has become a fun new trend lately! Growing your own food indoors! You can grow your own food even if you have the tiniest apartment. There are so many options available now that its easier and easier to grow your food inside. Keep in mind, you can only grow some things inside. I tried to grow a lemon and lime tree indoors, I even had the amazing windows, lots of space and I actually grew a lime but it was so sour, I think trees like that need more direct sunshine to thrive. I also grew an avocado tree right from the pit, it took 3-6months but it managed to get about 2ft high before it just decided to die without warning. It was a sad day because I nurtured that little guy but I think the funky inside growing systems that Amazon sells are worth trying out. I found a little countertop one for $40 which is a great place to start to grow herbs and some leafy greens which I find the easiest to grow inside. Did you know you can grow a potatoes indoors? They actually look like houseplants but they will need at least 6hrs of sunlight a day unless you get some hydroponic lights to help. Amazon has Potato Grow Bags for $15-20. How fun would that be to grow your own potatoes inside? With food costs increasingly high its so nice to go to your indoor garden and snip some of your own greens! Herbs and micro greens are a powerhouses of nutrition! My suggestion is to grow things you know you will use. I had no idea how much I loved Thyme until I grew it and started adding it to SO many dishes. Basil, cilantro, and lots of lettuces are my favourite but here are my top vegetables to grow indoors: Leafy Greens -spinach is my favourite for steaming down for eggs, smoothies, salmon Micro greens - broccoli contains 550% of your daily antioxidant needs so grow this one for sure! Hot Peppers - adding a little spice to your dishes are great for the thermogenic effect for burning fat Herbs of all kinds - basil, chives, cilantro, thyme, rosemary, sage are some that I use often Green Onions - I put these in EVERYTHING plus they look great growing inside! Scallions - a great small version of an onion and garlic together, nice and small so great for indoors! Imagine your home or apartment filled with these beautiful indoor growing systems bursting full of greens! Its not only satisfying to grow your own food but it will have you money as well! Thank you for following my journey to writing a book series!
Stay balanced, LeeAnna
