Do you love the idea of juicing but cringe at the idea of chopping all those vegetables, using a juicer and cleaning the juicer? Once you get a habit of juicing it really isn’t very different from preparing a salad for dinner but hey, I get it, you are busy and want to do this fast and easy. So are these considered “juices” or just “fancy waters”, call them what you like but they contain juice so that’s what I’m going with! I found these at a fancy resort in Cabo and had to break these down to make at home because $10 was a bit much for something so easy to make! let’s dissect each one of these to see how we can save money and make these at home with no “hassle” The Sunrise Juice in this picture is basically water, grapefruit juice, a hunk of ginger, some orange juice with some turmeric powder heated on low together, chill and drink. That's a pretty easy one as well to combat nausea and combat inflammation. Yes, think hangovers, a headache is inflammation in the brain! The Antioxidant Red This is also a super easy one if you use beet juice powder, add celery, parsley and cucumber in a blender. This one looks pretty clear and I doubt if it was blended but probably using some sort of antioxidant powder from a health food store. Still good though! This one here is basically a beet juice powder mix you can buy at any health food store, dissolved in water by warming the water, then cooling and drinking like “koolaid”. Ok it might not taste like “koolaid” but the colour is that vibrant. Drink it like a shot if you have to but get this one down because everything in this is seriously healthy! The Hangover Elixir In this one is very specifically for hangovers but I would use for general dehydration as well as it contains ginger, honey, Vitamin B, apple cider vinegar and sparkling water. On low heat add the ACV, ginger chunks and honey and mix together, drain and cool. Then add liquid vitamin B12 and top with sparkling water. So easy and you will feel better drinking this over plain water all day. Fresh Just a simple watermelon and mint. This would be best in a blender so just add watermelon to a blender, whirl and strain through a cheesecloth or nut bag if you don’t want any watermelon pulp, dilute with some water and add some sprigs of mint or even a ONE drop of peppermint essential oil (one for an 8oz class is enough!! No more) and you have a very fresh drink! Clean Green This one has lemon, mint, apple, spinach, ginger, celery, cucumber which is a lot and already sounds like this one is too much hassle but let’s dissect this one. Fill a pot of water and simmer on low so the ginger, celery, cucumber, lemon, mint and the spinach all blend together over super low heat. Cool, strain and bottle to refrigerate. Easy peasy! Check out some of the benefits of the key ingredients here…
I have to include my daily ritual of lemon water in the morning. I learned the importance of lemon water during my stay at Sanoviv Medical Institute in Rosarito, MX and it has stuck with me for years because it is just that easy and my body actually misses it when I don’t drink it in the morning. It’s like my coffee fix but it's not coffee! It's the best start to the day! Everyday Lemon Water One of the simplest “juices” I have every morning is as simple as can be. I squeeze ½ lemon into a cup of water or in the winter I use hot water. I add a dash of cayenne and you instantly have a healthy detox juice. The lemon is detoxifying and the cayenne kick starts your metabolism. You can handle that juice right? Thank you for following my journey to writing a book series!
