Naxos, Greece I wish you were here! You can be...in spirit! Vacations are just the best. They are always a break from reality and once we are back we just have memories. Did you realize vacation memories can be a powerful tool during stressful times? Revisiting memories during meditation may offer protection for mental health according to recent studies. For one, just forget what meditation “should'' be as there is no right or wrong way to meditate just like there is no right or wrong way to travel. For many not being able to travel like they used to it’s been a tough time these past couple of years. In my practice it was something we worked on with many people, especially during 2021 when the winter hit and people still couldn’t travel. This is where vacation meditation came to be very powerful. Naxos, Greece Meditation does not have to be formal or proper. You can meditate anywhere, while laying in bed before really waking up is my favorite time or before going to sleep. All you need to do is just close your eyes, take some deep breaths, put some ocean music or whatever makes you happy on your phone through YouTube or Spotify and just listen, breathe and remember your fond memories of your travels. The ocean and waves can be a powerful memory for some. They are soothing, they remind us of a time when we were able to just lay on a beach without a worry in the world. Try visualizing yourself on a beach, warm sun on your body, the sound of waves soothing your mind and just BE…don’t think of anything but the sounds and feelings you had when you were fully relaxed. Take some deep breaths and just feel the power of your thoughts calming your mind. A magical sunset in Naxos, Greece If you try this exercise daily you will find yourself smiling more, you may have more energy to tackle the day thinking about the day where you will actually GO on another vacation and create new memories. The best thing we can do is LIVE in the present but plan for the future. For me nothing is as calming as the ocean but find your happy place and go there often. Stress can creep up daily so remember to also practice some “happy” thoughts every day. Remember “thoughts become things”. Keep your thoughts happy and positive and just let the Universe guide you to living your best life wherever you are! Falling in love with Naxos, Greece! Sad to leave but MALTA is next! Thank you for following my journey to writing a book series!
Stay balanced, LeeAnna
