Red Light Therapy - Marion Mizzi Spa in Malta Boosts collagen production and cell renewal! Well, Malta has been a pleasant surprise! The hotel I am staying at in Melliaha Bay has the Marion Mizzi Spa and it has technology that costs 10x more in North America so I'm taking advantage of the Spa here! When entering your 50's you need THIS much hydration! Buy masks for at home if you can't make it for a facial! Do you notice how some people just have amazing skin? They literally GLOW! I believe this also has to do with a “sunny” personality and amazing energy as well as great skin! So how can you achieve a radiant glow? It starts with being happy and hydrated! It’s really about the inside and out! Apparently I had some work to do to get my skin looking great again! Take a look at these BEFORE & AFTERS WOW - 3 months made a huge difference! The ladies at Marion Mizzi transformed me! Just go get facials! Get people to buy you gift certificates for your birthday, Christamas, just GO! Here are my must haves for healthy skin… CLEAN Water Is an absolute MUST for healthy skin. Taking care of the inside will reflect on the outside. Having a natural glow means drinking water, but not just any water. Good quality spring water that contains minerals is best! MORE Sleep - Getting enough sleep is key to so many health issues. When we are sleeping our body gets to work repairing, rebuilding and regenerating new cells. Make sleep a priority! NO Stress - Reducing your stress is easier said than done but it comes down to taking some time, even 5 minutes during the day to calm your mind, to breath and to check in with yourself. Breathing deeply does wonders for your mental health. Try Dr. Andrew Weil’s 4-7-8 breathing technique, practice it a couple times a day! It really works! SUPPLEMENT with Vitamin C - This is a powerful antioxidant that brightens skin by blocking an enzyme that produces pigment and fights harmful toxins that damage the skin. COLLAGEN Shakes - Collagen is a major component of your skin. It plays a role in strengthening skin, as well as in elasticity and hydration. As you age, your body produces less collagen, leading to dry skin and the formation of wrinkles. Drinking a bone broth collagen shake is my go to for not only getting in my collagen but to curb my cravings for chocolate! Some of my favorites are found in your local grocery store or health food store. Ancient Nutrition’s Collagen Bone Broth comes in Chocolate and Vanilla and is delicious! Sun Warrior is a brand found in all parts of the world and also has an amazing taste! I usually get the chocolate ones and blend in a banana for a creamy “monkey milkshake” EXFOLIATE - Of course there are some daily “skin” routines that can help such as washing your face every single night, even if you are so tired! I find “getting ready” for bed a couple hours earlier than I am actually going to bed helps. I don’t want to eat late at night anyway so I brush my teeth and wash my face 2-3hrs before bed. It works and you will find you have time to mask as well! Exfoliating your skin with a natural scrub and applying a natural clay mask help to slough off the dead skin revealing a more vibrant glow as well. If you find yourself in Mexico head to one of the many pharmacies there and grab a tube of Retin A cream for $30 which helps slough off dead skin and brings out fresh new skin! Bask in RED Light Therapy - Is this a craze or does it work? What is it about these LED lights that are so popular in spas these days? Red light is thought to work by producing a biochemical effect in cells that strengthens the mitochondria. The mitochondria are the powerhouse of the cell — it’s where the cell’s energy is created. It is a controversial treatment but it claims to help with wrinkles. Experts believe that red LED light acts on cells in the skin known as fibroblasts, which play a role in production of collagen. They sell these masks online now or try it at the spa and see what you think! Take some before and after's pictures of your skin, give it your all for 3 months, go to the spa, have facials at home, eat well, drink water and be consistent. Then take pictures side by side like this and even if you just do all this on your own, taking care of your skin from the inside - out you will notice a difference! Thank you for following my journey to writing a book series!
Stay balanced, LeeAnna
