March 27 How to use coconut oil as a daily healthy habit… Organic coconut oil is not expensive, the smell and taste is amazing and I find it’s so easy to use on a daily basis. EAT IT EVERY DAY Easiest way to protect your brain is to stir a tsp to a tbsp or so into your coffee, tea or hot chocolate daily to add some MCT for brain health! Cook with it daily, the smoke point for coconut oil is 350 degrees so it is fine for some light stir frying. USE AS A DAILY MOISTURIZER So moisturize with it, cook with it and eat it! Make sure coconut oil is on your grocery list next time! Studies have shown it’s also great for many other things such as… Brain health - Coconut oil has medium chain triglycerides that break down into ketones to be used by our brain cells for energy. Glucose is used for energy as well but the MCT’s in coconut oil improve memory, reduce inflammation (yes you can get inflammation of your brain) and reduce oxidative stress (free radicals) by nourishing the health of the neurons in our brain. It may be that Alzheimer’s patients are unable to use glucose properly and so the brain starves. Coconut oil is an easier to use source of energy and so keeps brain cells going due to the theory that the fat in coconut oil metabolizes quicker than other fats because of the high MCT content. Heart health - Some studies appear to show that people who eat more coconut in their diets have higher levels of HDL cholesterol – the “healthy” version linked to lower rates of strokes and heart disease. One reason for this cholesterol boost is likely to be the high level lauric acid in coconut oil. INSOMNIA - rub all over your skin, which is your largest organ, not only is it moisturizing, it contains high amounts of lauric acid, which has been linked with more restful sleep. Also you will go to bed smelling like a tropical vacation. and you will taste good tooDid you know having an orgasm might be the key to falling asleep? When you have an orgasm your body releases endorphins. These chemicals are known for making you feel intensely good and to make you feel very sleepy!! Just a fun side note!! Coconut oil presses all the buttons: it’s natural, it’s enticingly exotic, it’s surrounded by health claims. Thank you for following my journey to writing a book series!
Stay balanced, LeeAnna
